January 05, 20072007 will be the warmest year everMax Oliva, Associate Director, Social Impact Management It could not all be good news with the new born year. While GDP has had an unprecedented growth, so has the global warming phenomenon. The Stern Review on the economics of climate change states that all countries will be affected by climate change, but it is the poorest countries that will suffer earliest and most. Or is it not? According to the Financial Times, Australia is experiencing the effects of global warming more deeply than other parts of the world. Have a look at Climate Change in depth. Ethically speaking all companies should contribute to look for a solution to this problem, but a government framework is absolutely necessary to make this behaviour profitable in the medium run, not only when companies that behave rightly be eaten by their irresponsible competitors that can produce cheaply by contaminating more. Of course this is not sustainable, but when the consequences come, current CEOs will be enjoying their pension. Companies know what is wrong and what is right, now it is necessary to make illegal what is wrong.
