The Center's research assesses the impact on poor people of globalization and of the policies of industrialized countries, developing countries and multilateral institutions. The Center seeks to identify alternative policies that promote equitable growth and participatory development in low-income and transitional economies, and, in collaboration with civil society and private sector groups, seeks to translate policy ideas into policy reforms. The Center partners with other institutions in efforts to improve public understanding in industrial countries of the economic, political, and strategic benefits of promoting improved living standards and governance in developing countries.

The Controller:

• Ensures compliance with GAAP in financial statement preparation and presentation.
• Regularly prepares and/or reviews all entries into the general ledger from accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and accounts receivable for accuracy.
• Reconciles all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Maintains grant accounting records within general ledger by grant and project code to assure compliance with restrictions. Reconciles each grant fund monthly.
• Prepares monthly closing entries and reports on budget vs. actual results.
• Responsible for ERISA and 990 tax return preparation and compliance.
• Facilitates the annual audit process, preparing schedules and workpapers, and drafting the financial reports and footnotes.
• Develops annual budget in consultation with others and prepares reports for Board and funders.
• Prepares grant budgets associated with proposals at the request of others.
• Maintains fixed asset schedules.
• Oversees and assists with cash disbursements and payroll processing (40 employees).
• Serves as the "go to" person for all financial and contractual issues at the Center.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years financial experience in a 501(c)3 organization.
• Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and reporting requirements as demonstrated by work experience. Experience utilizing MS Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with management, staff, peers, and external constituencies.
• Ability to prepare financial reports in multiple formats to meet a variety of needs.
• Strong work ethic.
• Sense of humor.

Preference given to candidates with public accounting experience and experience with Intacct/Intuit software.
